Let’s Spread Smiles

The preacher of Islam, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Kaleem Siddiqui (Phulat): Hazrat Maulana is a great preacher of the Islamic world who has converted almost five lakh people to Islam. His book, “Naseem-e-Hidayat Kay Jhonkay” is worth reading.

A little innocent six years old girl was selling tissues on the road. She was wondering around with smile on her face. When she saw customers coming, she would put her little basket in front of them and say, "Do you want tissue paper?" while passing by a lady, she found her crying. The innocent girl stopped next to her, the lady also looked with her eyes full of tears at the beautiful girl who was offering her a packet of tissue paper with a smile on her face. Unknowingly she took out a tissue paper and wiped her tears. She took the price of tissue paper out of her purse and saw that the girl was gone. She liked that little smiling girl a lot. There was an empty bench nearby, the lady sat on it. She thought for a while and then sent a message to her husband from her mobile, “I am ashamed of my actions, I feel sorry for whatever happened, please let it go, your point of view is valid.” Her husband was sitting distressed in a hotel. Upon getting this pleasant message from his wife, a calm smile spread across his face. In the same joy, he called the waiter, happily gave him fifty Egyptian pounds and said, “These are yours.” The waiter couldn’t believe it and said, “The cost of the tea was only five pounds!” “The rest is your tip”, he replied…now the waiter had smile on his face. Getting such a big amount was not a small thing for the waiter. He decided something and went to the old beggar woman who was selling chocolates and toffees, spreading a cloth on the foot path. He bought chocolates for one pound and gave her ten pounds with a smile. “The rest of the pounds are for you,” he said and went back to his work. The old woman kept looking at ten pounds she had received without any effort or reward. She had a great smile on her face; her heart was pounding with happiness. She packed her things spread on the ground and went straight to the butcher’s shop. It had been long since she and her granddaughter have had meat. They wanted to eat meat but did not afford it. Their wish was going to be fulfilled that day. She happily bought meat and went home. The old mother cooked meat with great effort and passion and started waiting for her little, beautiful granddaughter who was the entire universe to her. “How happy she would be to eat meat today”. She was lost in thought when her granddaughter, the tissue paper seller, entered the house smiling. Today there was more than usual smile on her face. The happiness that you give to others definitely returns back to you and your home, with Allah’s will. Dear readers! Isn’t it possible that we also distribute smiles like that tissue paper selling child, distribute happiness among the people? We should consider the hadith of our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ): The Prophet (ﷺ) guided his Ummah in a hadith and said mentioning smile, “Treating your brother with a smiling face is also charity!” Glory be to Allah. Give happiness to all and share love with others, remember! Whatever is shared with others always grows without shortage. Just as our wealth grows, our sustenance increases when we share with others similarly we get more respect when we give respect to others. I wish we could understand this point.
